Research from UK clothes re-use charity TRAID claims that almost a quarter of Londoners clothes are unworn. This is symbolic of our throwaway culture in the West where we tirelessly to get material goods but ironically their value has gone down.
This article on Pebble mentions that 300,000 tonnes of clothes go to the landfill in the UK each year. Such a huge figure is a reason why we believe textile recycling and export is so important. By giving clothes a new lease of life we can cut down on waste going to the landfill and at the same time help clothe people in developing nations.
